Waiting for ceramics to dry...

 

   Then we have to wait until clay is completely dry before we can proceed to first firing. Time needed depends on the size of the ceramic, on the thickness of clay, on room temperature and hummidity. You can realize that it takes less time during summer time (about a week). In winter time it may take even more than a month for some big pieces.

  In the photos to the left, ceramics with brown colour are made in the same day and are still very wet. These which appear with more gray colour are almost dry and ready to put in the kiln. Ceramics in the lower shelf are still wet (that's why they appear more gray-brown as clay contains more water).
